About Forren

The Forren School of Music is a professional music school. With a rich and comprehensive collection of resources, Forren’s goal is to “Build first-class music school, implement first-class music education.” The school serves as a solid foundation to guide each individual high school and middle school student to a successful music career.

The curriculum of Forren is made available and accessible to students across China through the National High School Examinations Certificate Program. The curriculum spans seven grades. After graduating, student receives a nationally acknowledged high school diploma from the Beijing Education Committee. Forren offers a wide variety of year round music programs for pre-college students and provides opportunities for our students to be admitted to our cooperating music conservatories, including those overseas. Forren recommends excellent students for scholarship. Forren also offers pre-college summer and winter academies and adult summer workshops.

Forren is located in Beijing, the capital city and the cultural and art center of China. Based in Beijing, it offers extraordinary opportunities for learning and personal development through music and the arts in all of China and increasingly in a number of international settings as well. The school occupies 60 Chinese acres of land, combining 10,000 square meters in area. Forren’s facilities include nearly a hundred separated soundproof practice modules for students, a performing concert hall, a library with electronic access, an advanced multimedia classroom, music and video rooms, a standard rehearsal room, a dance classroom, a clinic room, student activity rooms, a gymnasium, and a number of standard classrooms. The student apartments, with 2 person and 4 person rooms, are equipped with individual showers. The dining hall has a capacity of 600 people. The school also has a 24-room apartment building for domestic and foreign professionals

Forren has a living-on-campus system for students. One mentor is assigned to each student on campus for the purposes of study, living, and moral consulting. At Forren, students gain professional skills as well as social skills in an ideal, enthusiastic environment. We teach students to “learn to be, learn to learn, learn to live together”. We know that each individual student is much more than his or her instrument, body, or voice. We thrive on individuality and provide a “safe haven” for students to explore it. We are a place where they can grow as an artist and a person.

Students at Forren are assured focused, personal attention, both in one-on-one coaching with their major instrument teacher, and in small classes with our faculty. Individual attention and guidance is our specialty, both inside and outside the classroom.
