Outreach Programs
Forren is determined to rank itself among the first class conservatories of the world and is fortunate to have access to the vast resources and opportunities from cooperating conservatories both domestic and abroad.
Forren has successfully held master classes both nationally and internationally. Many top musicians and scholars from our affiliated conservatories come to the school each year to give master classes and guest lectures or to serve as visiting artistic directors and short-term faculty.
Oberlin Conservatory, USA

Forren School of Music was designated in 2006 as the first and only place in China for Conservatory Admission Auditions of Oberlin Conservatory of Music.
The Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, founded in 1865, is the nation's oldest continuously operating conservatory, and the only major music school in the country linked with a preeminent liberal arts college.
The Oberlin College is located on 440 acres in Oberlin, Ohio, southwest of Cleveland. The Conservatory has an enrollment of approximately 595 students - primarily undergraduate - from 37 U.S. states and 13 countries.
Oberlin Conservatory offers majors in performance, composition, music education, music theory, electronic and computer music, jazz studies, music history, and a double major in piano performance and vocal accompanying. Degree programs include:

Oberlin Conservatory Piano Competition

To further explore the potentials of talented young pianists in China, The Oberlin International Piano Competition will hold the China district first-rounds in Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan, Shenyang, Dalian, and Hong Kong, from April 21st to May 6th, 2007. Award winners of each city will be granted admission to final round held in Oberlin Conservatory, USA.
In April 21st and 22nd, 2007, the Beijing district competition and master class will take place in Forren School of Music.
The final competition, along with a music festival, has been providing high-school age pianists around the world with a great opportunity to expand their knowledge of music for the past 12 years. Lectures, master classes and recitals are given by Oberlin Conservatory faculty members and guest artists.
Royal Northern College of Music, UK

Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK. held auditions to admit talented music artists from Forren School of Music in April, 2007.
Formed in 1973, RNCM was born from the merger of the Royal Manchester College of Music and the Northern School of Music.
With a unique and profound education and training style, RNCM’s faculty has the best reputation among conservatories from UK. Students here are given great performing opportunities in 4 public venues.
For many years, RNCM has been the first choice conservatory for a great number of professional musicians from the UK and overseas.
Chetham's School of Music, UK

Forren and Chetham’s School of Music of UK met in Beijing in November 2006, and shared many common ideas on developing and teaching in the musical field, agree on the importance of promoting and furthering academic links between the two partners.
Chetham’s, located in the heart of Manchester, UK, is the most comprehensive and most recognized music school in the United Kingdom.
Within the fields of common interest, the two schools will promote the following activities:
1.invitations to scholars for lectures, master classes and seminars;
2.Student exchange programs. For example, Forren will run a program to recruit students to join in the short courses held at Chetham’s; Chetham’s students will be invited to perform in China and join in some classes in Forren.
3.Forren will recommend their excellent students with musical potential to Chetham’s to study. Both partners will seek financial support for excellent students.
Also, Forren recommend our excellent students for admission to other overseas conservatories with scholarship. These music conservatories include:
